I have always wanted a large fish pond in my
yard, so one day Jack and I decided to build one, this was quite
a project. We marked it out and started digging, this was a lot
of work but fun. it took a few days to do this. We ended up with
a pond about 10ft long and 8ft wide and about 3ft deep. We went
to town and bought some very heavy liner Plastic and laid it out
over the hole we had dug. we let it overlap the sides about 5ft.
We also had built shelves down in the hole and made it shallow at
one end where we put the dirt that come out of the hole, this is
where we made the water falls. we installed a pump in the deep
end and run PVC Pipe from the pump to the falls, the Pipe was run
under the Liner and covered with dirt. The day finely came to
fill it with water, we were both a little nervous but it filled
and the liner set up very well. We go up into the Mountains a lot
so we hauled back large flat rocks ever trip, it took about 8
trips with our little Toyota Pic-up. but soon we had enough to do
the border.
Well, now to go to town and buy some fish. We bought several sun
fish and a few different kind, some large and some small. We
already have a few frogs around the place so this worked out just
right. This turned out to be a very beautiful pond and we are
proud of it...
